Student Interview with
Mr. Michael Macaluso,
Founder of Archangel School

mr. mac meeting the pope

Mr.Macaluso, Why did you start Archangel School?

Mrs. Macaluso and I started Archangel School because we heard that a lot of the Catholic schools in the diocese were being closed and we felt that we couldn't just sit around and watch so we started the best school for Catholic education in the diocese.

How many students were there in the very beginning of Archangel School?

In the beginning we started out with twelve families but lost ten due to the busing situation. We were new to the busing program so we had a hard time figuring out how to get the busing forms from the parents to the bus station. So in the beginning we had two students all together.

When did you decide to add a high school to Archangel?

The biggest achievement was maintaining a true Catholic education...

I decided to make a high school when the students already attending Archangel School were moving into older grades. Instead of moving them to a different school, we started a high school in a different building. We moved from Buffalo road to St. Judes on Lyell Road and hired more teachers that still teach the Catholic education.

What was Archangel School's biggest achievement as a whole?

The biggest achievement was maintaining a true Catholic education and trying to make the school the best Catholic school in the diocese.

What future do you see for Archangel School?

I see it blossoming into a bigger school in student numbers alone. Now that we offer more projects and activities at the end of the day, it will make more students and parents want to learn more about the school.
